What A Waste: Rubbish, Recycling, and Protecting our Planet

Jess French’s positive change for a better world

In What a Waste, author Jess French reveals extraordinary facts about the waste we produce and its impact on us and our planet:

• 91% of all plastic ever created has not been recycled
• Orangutans have lost more than 80% of their forest habitat in the last 20 years
• 92% of the world’s people are breathing polluted air

Jess French explains to children how they can make a difference by making small changes. Why not try this: for one week, collect all your family’s plastic waste. At the end of the week, go through each item and think of any plastic-free items you could use instead. By making swaps to create less waste, you can become a plastic-free family!
